After 5 months of renovating, our kitchen is finally finished! We are so excited that we get to enjoy our dream kitchen, create many recipes and share them with friends, family and all of you online.

When we moved in we fell in love with this kitchen, and knew this was the place to start. It is the heart of the home and so integral for my work.

We kept the original kitchen units, but added extra storage. Starting in the main kitchen area, we built extra units to the side of the aga and built in our fridge and freezer from Bosch. We removed the old worktops and added in new Carrara Quartz worktops from Everything Stone. These made such a huge difference to the light of the room, as before they were dark brown and dark granite. Plus we gained extra room by adding the extra cupboard to the left of the aga, and more worktop overhang for the island.

We replaced the broken oven with a new Neff oven, and added a hob on top of the worktop. We have a working aga, so didn’t need a large hob. But this is perfect for the summer months when it is switched off.

All of the cupboards were repainted in a similar, but slightly lighter green from Lick, called Green 09. It is such a beautiful and cottage-y colour. We finished off the cupboard with beautiful Antique Brass handles from Yesterhome, which were very affordable compared to some others I was finding online, but the exact style we were going for. The walls were painted in Lick White 01 all over to really lighten the space.

Our windows were removed and changed by Carrara Carptentry, who did an incredible job at replicating the original Georgian and Victorian sash windows, with added double glazing. We went for timber frame to keep them as close to the originals as possible and they are one of my favourite things about the house now.

We got all of our lights switches and sockets from Electrical Direct, as they were a lovely antique brass colour, but very affordable.

For accessories I got most of the bits from Facebook marketplace, such as the stoneware, and flower painting. Our Vitamix and Magimix stand pride of place on the countertop now we have the space!

Above the aga, I knew I wanted somewhere to hang my hand-me-down copper pots, so picked up this beautiful rail from Nkuku, including the hooks. Atop the aga are some beautiful William Morris Strawberry Thief aga toppers, and another hand-me-down kettle.

The lights over the island were picked as soon as we moved in, and are from Wayfair, and the oak stools are from Etsy. We managed to find our Smeg toaster secondhand on eBay, and we were kindly gifted our mixer a little while back. It’s where Alex makes all of his bread!

The drying rack is also from Nkuku, and we’ve had this since our old home. It fits perfectly!

The knife rack I picked up on Pro Cook, while all of the ceramics on our shelves are from various places; The White Company mugs, kettle from Garden Trading, Broste, and gifts from friends and family.

I also found a lovely oak shaker rail from Etsy to hang up my aprons or tea towels.

Our new tap is my pride and joy, and is one of the first things I knew I always wanted in our dream kitchen. It is a boiling water tap, but also provides cold filtered water and sparkling. The gorgeous antique brass petina option was worth every penny! Our refillable bottles we got from a Cornish brand called Kuishi, and the gorgeous bread bin was a vintage one from Etsy.

At the other end of the kitchen is where we had our new cupboards built, which has provided so much additional storage for the room. They are also painted in Lick White 01, and the handles are matching to the rest of the kitchen. On this side, we have decorated with our cookbooks, a Nkuku cake stand, our ratan plcemats, and some more accessories collected over the years. Our table has been in my family all my life, the chairs are facebook marketplace, as is the stool.

The window seat is the cosiest spot in the room, and was a perfect use of the space in between the newly built cupboards. We are currently having a window cushions made to measure, but this one fits really well for now, and our Linen & Stripe cushions work beautifully with the colours in the kitchen. The vase is another Etsy vintage find.

Our dresser was another DIY project. I painted it in Lick Green 02, as it was a dull grey before. And repurposed the handles with the original handles from the kitchen. It makes me so happy to see all of our beautiful ceramics and bowls out on display. Most of which are from facebook marketplace, or local ceramists such as the One Armed Potter in Hayle and Natalie Bonney. The comport is vintage from Etsy, the bowls on the bottom shelf are from The White Company, the vase is from Garden Trading, the gingham print plate is from Ian Snow, the jug on the top shelf is also The White Company, as is the watering can. The jug in the middle is Casafina and everything else is secondhand, vintage or bought locally/abroad. Our beautiful vintage style chandelier is from Wayfair.

We had to replace our woodburner as it was broken, so went for a Charnwood Country 4 stove in almond. It matches the aga and is so adorable! The beautiful antique painting is another Etsy find and our floor rug is IKEA. Our installation was done by Cornwall Stoves who are lovely!
