Hazelnut Orange Chocolates

Hazelnut Orange Chocolates

Christmas clusters of chocolate, nuts, raisins and orange zest.

prep time 20 mins total time 1 hour 30 mins makes 8-10

This recipe is ridiculously easy and makes a cute Christmas gift or sweet treat for the festive period.

All you need is your favourite vegan chocolate, hazelnuts, coconut oil and orange zest. Thatโ€™s it! You can even try out some of your fave flavours to switch things up.

To start, break up your chocolate and melt on the stove. Do this by putting in a glass bowl on top of a saucepan filled with simmering water. Make sure the glass bowl isnโ€™t touching the water. Stir and mix until it all gently melts.

Meanwhile, chop up your hazelnuts. If you donโ€™t have hazelnuts to hand you can use any other e.g. Brazil, almond, cashews etc. This can also easily be done by blitzing in a food processor if you have one.

Once your chocolate has melted take off the heat and mix in your nuts and orange zest. Mould into small balls on a baking sheet, and leave to cool at room temperature for 3-4 hours. Itโ€™s literally that easy! Package up in a little tin and decorate for the perfect homemade gift.

Ingredients

  • 100g dark vegan chocolate

  • 1/2 tsp coconut oil

  • 100g finely chopped hazelnuts

  • Zest of 1 orange (optional)

METHOD

  1. Line a baking sheet with a silicon mat or parchment paper.

  2. Break up chocolate into pieces and place in a bowl that fits over a saucepan. Fill the saucepan with about 2cm of water and place the bowl with the chocolate over it. Make sure the water doesnโ€™t touch the bowl. Gently heat the water and wait for the chocolate to melt, stirring occasionally.

  3. Once melted, take off heat and add the hazelnuts and orange zest. Stir so everything is coated evenly.

  4. Take approx 1 dessert spoon of the mixture and place onto the lined baking sheets making it as even and round as possible.

  5. Let the chocolate cool at room temperate , this should take 3/4 hours depending upon the temperate of your kitchen. The chocolate will remain more glossy cooled this way.

  6. Once chilled, pack into a pretty box or tin and wrap. Happy Christmas!
