The most indulgent and rich vegan chocolate orange brownies that you won’t believe are vegan.
What you need
- chia eggs (1:3 ratio chia to water: 3 tbsp chia seeds, 9 tbsp water)
- dark chocolate
- vegan butter
- brown sugar
- vanilla extract
- orange
- plain flour
- cocoa powder
- choc chips

How to make vegan chocolate orange brownies
Preheat your oven to 180 °C (350°F) and line with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
Melt the butter and chocolate in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly, being sure not to burn. Remove from the heat and pour into mixing bowl to cool.
Whisk in the sugar and vanilla to the chocolate butter mix and whisk in 1/3 of the chia eggs at a time.
Fold in the flour, cocoa powder, orange zest and salt. Lastly, fold in the chocolate chips and a splash of milk if needed.
Pour the batter into the baking tray, and bake for 30-35 minutes until brownies come away at the edges.
Leave to cool in the pan, cut into slices and enjoy!
If you’re not a fan of the orange flavour, simply leave out the zest for classic chocolate brownies.
Add in some vegan white chocolate chunks for a gooey surprise.

I made this (omitting the orange as aldi didn’t seem to have any vegan dark orange chocolate) but even so, the brownies were absolutely delicious and very easy to make – I would recommend!

Second time making these, they are amazing. This time I made some adaptions to the recipe, I used a flax egg instead of a chia egg because I wanted a smooth brownie with no crunchy chia seeds in even though they are nice in the brownies. I used gluten free oat flour instead of plain flour to make them gluten free, the brownies turned out fine using oat flour. These are delicate brownies so they fall apart a little bit but if you put them in the fridge they firm up and get even more fudgy.

Made them without the orange peel. I thought the were a bit to sweet for my taste. Next time I’ll use less sugar or maybe coconut sugar, and I will try a flax egg instead of a chia egg. But I will make them again!

Hi, love so much your recipes! Can I use coconut oil instead of butter? How would the proportion be?
Thanks!

I made these this evening and I already ate half of it 😅😅, I added 150 grams of sugar instead of 200, and they were delicious, even putting less sugar it was a little bit sweet, but so good and fudgy 😍😍😍😍 thank youuuu

I’m sorry but as a vegan creator I haven’t tested it with eggs so can’t help with this one!
