Orange Coffee Energy Bars

The perfect snack to prep at the weekend to give you a boost during the week.

These vegan orange coffee energy bars are zesty, chocolatey are the perfect snack to choose before a workout or even during a busy work day.

All you need are some oats, dates, a few nuts, coffee beans, orange and some chocolate.

What you need to make Orange Coffee Energy Bars

  • Rolled oats
  • Orange
  • Fresh orange juice
  • Medjool dates
  • Hazelnuts
  • Ground coffee beans
  • Cocoa powder
  • Dark chocolate
  • Pinch of sea salt

How to make Orange Coffee Energy Bars

Line a baking tin (approx 20 cms square) with parchment paper, overlapping the top, so easy to remove the bars.

Place all the ingredients into a food processor, and blitz until forms a sticky paste. If too crumbly add a splash or water (or fresh orange juice) and blitz again.

Turn out the mixture into the baking tin, and firmly press down, making sure you every spread out the mixture and get into all the corners. Press down all over, then place in fridge for a couple of hours to firm.

Remove from fridge and drizzle over melted chocolate. Leave to set in fridge. Turn out and cut into bars.

The recipe is flexible, so 100g of dates could be substituted for dried apricots or golden sultanas.

If you don’t like or have any hazelnuts in your store cupboard, then just switch them out for any nuts of your choice.

I’ve just made these delicious bars. I love the subtle taste of orange in them. My boyfriend doesn’t like coffee sweets, so I used 3 tbsp of cocoa instead. And we didn’t have any hazelnuts, so I used almonds and it works perfectly well.

I just made these and I’m so pleased with the result! I used cashews instead of hazelnuts and about half the coffee it called for so I could eat them at night haha. The only downside was that the mixture was so thick that it was hard on my food processor, so I had to add a lot of extra liquid. This made the bars a bit soft, but still delicious!

Hello Madeline! I made these delicious brownies for my partner! He appreciated them so much and we ate them in 2 days! I followed your recipes, I only skipped the topping. They were so gooey and yummy. I’m going to make them again since they’re healthy and they help satisfy my sweet craving. Thank you!

These were SO incredible! The coffee and orange are so lovely together. I swapped the hazelnuts for walnuts. Don’t think these will be around for long!
