28 Must-try Vegan Christmas Recipes

vegan christmas recipes

Christmas is one of my favourite times of year for food. You’ve got delicious nut roasts, boxing day feasts and all of my favourite plant based desserts and special sweet treats. It’s a time for celebrating family friends, and food! If you’ve been scouring the internet for the best plant-based recipes then you’ve come to the right place – I’ve rounded up 40 of the best vegan Christmas recipes to make during the festive winter period. Let the festive cooking begin!

Lots of people might think that the Christmas period can be challenging for those that have a plant-based diet, but it’s actually one of my favourite times of year to show how easy (and delicious!) it is to prepare vegan food. On Christmas day, nothing beats a good nut roast prepared with my favourite roasted vegetables. I’ve got you covered with the best side recipes too; from unbelievably crunchy roast potato to caramelised carrots or pecan brussel sprouts with cranberries. Then of course we’ve got dessert – and I love to create my favourite sweet treats for my family and friends to devour at Christmas.

In the past I’ve loved receiving edible homemade gifts and sweet treats so I’ve created my own versions which I’ve included in this list. They’re so thoughtful, often quite easy and the perfect gift when times are hard or you need to stick to a budget. You’ll also find in this list a few festive drinks thrown in for good measure – nothing beats a festive cocktail to enjoy on Boxing Day!

Brussels sprouts with balsamic, pecans and cranberries
Brussels sprouts with balsamic, pecans, and cranberries might just be the side dish you didn’t know your table was missing. Perfectly roasted Brussels sprouts are elevated with the tangy sweetness of balsamic glaze, the crunch of toasted pecans, and bursts of tart dried cranberries. Plus, with the added option of some vegan feta cheese for some saltiness. This flavour-packed dish strikes the perfect balance between savoury, sweet, and nutty—ideal for cosy weeknight dinners or as a standout addition to your Christmas spread.

6
vegan roast potatoes with rosemary and roasted garlic
My Mum’s Best Ever Roast Potatoes with Rosemary & Garlic
Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, it's no surprise that they're often a roast dinner favourite. However, it's really east to get roasties wrong or not get them quite crispy enough.  So in this post, I’ll show you how to make the absolute best vegan roast potatoes, perfectly seasoned with rosemary and garlic for a match made in heaven.

vegan christmas gravy
Vegan Christmas Gravy
When it comes to Christmas dinner, a delicious nut roast often steals the show—but let’s be honest, gravy is the unsung hero that ties it all together. You can't have a roast without a good gravy. In my opinion it's an essential part of any festive dinner,  whether you're drizzling it over crispy roast potatoes or pouring on top of maple glazed roast carrots, a rich sauce that is simple, full of flavour, and uses easy-to-find ingredients.

You can’t beat a great slaw. This vegan beetroot and apple slaw is a plant based alternative to your classic white cabbage coleslaw. It’s super healthy, nutritious and an ideal side for your summer BBQ or inside some crusty bread as a sandwich filler. I like this recipe because it’s a bit different to your standard salads you’d find at a BBQ. It’s also easy enough to tweak to your own tastes. Don’t fancy apricot? Leave it out or swap for some raisins. Don’t fancy spring onions? Leave them out or swap for some red onion.
