House Tour – My Georgian Country Home in Cornwall

As many of you know, I recently moved from a small 17th century cottage to a larger Georgian country house in the middle of the Cornish countryside. We’ve kept some parts of the house a bit of a secret since we moved in, only sharing a few sneak peaks over on my Instagram accounts @madeleineolivia and our home account @ourcornishcottage but the time has come for me to finally share the full house tour. So, I want to share with you a full Georgian country house tour for you to see the ins and outs of our new home!

It has pretty much everything I ever wished for in a forever home – high ceilings, countryside location, big windows, a beautiful garden and an incredible kitchen! I feel very lucky and I think we’re going to be very happy here for a long long time.

Georgian country house tour

Kitchen

This is one of my favourite rooms. Ever since I stepped into it during our first viewing I really felt that this was my home. It’s so full of light and character – with a gorgeous slate floor, lovely big windows (that will actually be our first restoration/renovation project) and two old stone fireplaces.

What we want to do next is build around the integrated fridge (on the right) to match the rest of the kitchen cupboards and create some more storage.

LIVING ROOM

The next room I’d like to show you is our living room. I adore the outlook on to our garden from here – the perfect place to bathe in the sun with a good book. We plan to expose the brick behind the plaster to hopefully reveal another old fireplace – watch this space!

Bathroom

The bathroom gets so much light during the day, which makes it such a lovely place to spend time in. The bath itself has the most dreamy outlook over the garden and it’s also huge! Perfect for long tall people like me and Alex.

Master bedroom

The master bedroom isn’t actually the largest room upstairs. But, the views are so nice from the window over the garden we couldn’t not choose it as our bedroom. It’s also south facing so the sunshine streams in for most of the day which the cats certainly appreciate.

Second bedroom

The second bedroom, like the master, is nice and bright because of the large sash windows. It’s technically the largest room upstairs and I am considering painting it pink!

Dressing room

So when we first moved in we weren’t sure what we were going to use this room for. After we unpacked our clothing into the huge wardrobe installed by the previous owners, it kind of became a little dressing room (which I actually now love). It may become something completely different in the future, or even back to a bedroom, but for now I love it as a room to get ready in – plus the light is amazing!

Third bedroom

This room we’re using as our guest bedroom as it has a handy little en-suite that got put in when the staircase was moved a few years ago. We needed to get a new bed for this room as we have more bedrooms so we chose a lovely French style one from Loaf made from weathered oak.
