Autumn Apple & Pear Porridge
Seasonal fruits and autumnal spices are the perfect start to the day this time of year, so try my apple and pear porridge.
What you need
- apples
- pears
- cinnamon
- nutmeg
- porridge oats
- plant milk
- water
- maple syrup
- cranberries/raisins
How to make apple and pear porridge
Chop up your apples and pears into bite sized chunks.
Add to a pan over medium heat, with 1 tsp of cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg and a drizzle of maple syrup. Mix together and simmer.
Meanwhile, start to cook your porridge by adding the oats and liquid into a pan, along with another tsp of cinnamon. Stir on a low to medium heat until creamy.
Keep an eye on the fruit, adding a splash of water if it needs it. It’s ready when everything has softened and formed a sort of compote. The longer you cook it, the more it will reduce and soften.
Serve everything together, with a sprinkling of cranberries and an extra drizzle of syrup.
This recipe can work with any fruit you fancy! I often do this with berries instead, and for the season blackberries could be perfect!

One of my favourite porridges ☺️
It’s September but the weather today is cooler and I crave porridge. I do make this 4 serving
I love that I can adjust recipe to my portions, it sorts all the ingredients out so all I have to do is weigh.
I make batch for the week in the fridge, add extra water & soya milk and its cooks as if I’ve made a fresh that morning. Although porridge makes a great lunch or dinner in the colder months
I switch fruit up to seasons or my mood.
